Have you Tested for Radon?

Studies have shown that over half of the homes in the State of Maine have elevated levels of radon.  There is no "indicator" to tell whether your home has elevated levels, other than testing.  If you are involved in a real estate transaction, a State registered tester is required.  However, if you own your house, you can easily test on your own.  CLICK HERE to e-mail me, or call me at 852-7020 for more information.

Vapor Barrier Installation

If you have a dirt floor in your basement or crawlspace, your wood framing may be subject to moisture damage, or may even be creating a perfect environment for molds and fungi.  Your basement or crawlspace pulls moisture from the ground, and your house pulls this moisture upwards.  Improper drainage around the home may contribute to moisture problems, or maybe you live in an area where groundwater can not drain away naturally.

We can install vapor barriers, reducing the moisture level in your basement or crawlspace, and install a sump pump if necessary. This allows stored items to stay dry and mold-free, and mechanical systems such as boilers and furnaces to last longer and operate more efficiently.  Using this barrier in conjunction with foam panels or sprayfoam insulation around the perimeter of the basement can turn that damp, unusable area into an area which is the foundation of a healthy home.
